.Curating.Arts Management.

My experience of curation and arts project management comes primarily from 2 great organisations: Taigh Chearsabhagh Arts Centre & Museum (below) & out of the blue arts & education trust where I was in charge of the gallery for 3 years.

I was first involved in curation & arts management as chairman of the Uist Arts Association and a director of Taigh Chearsabhagh Arts Centre & Museum in 1992. I instigated, planned, and managed a number of innovative projects. I was one of a small steering group set up to implement the development of Taigh Chearsabhagh Art Centre, to determine exhibition programme, source funding and to assist architects with a further expansion phase. I assisted with the project needs of various visiting artists including Chris Drury, Liz Ogilvie & Will MacLean. I applied successfully for funding for a year long community-made film called Passing Places and devised and managed the first digital arts residency in the Western Isles.

Islands Project: initiated and organized a 3 year project to encourage local artists to work and exhibit together. Visiting artists invited to give workshops on each of the 3 trips to offshore islands Vallay, Boreray and the Monachs.
Roadends Project: Worked as part of a small team on this community project to create sculptures designed through collaboration between isolated local communities and invited artists.
